Humble but with dangerous skills. This is Sunny from New York City. Sunny shows that powermoves and tricks in not only meant for bboys. Getting a straight invite to the Red Bull BC One bgirlstage, bgirlsessions asked her some questions.
1. Do you think that red bull bc one bgirl is a good idea?
This is a tough question and there’s good and bad on both sides of the argument. On the one hand, having a separate battle for bgirls gives more exposure to bgirls and an opportunity for some women to dance in a battle that they might never have had the opportunity to do otherwise (which I’m grateful for!). But on the other hand, it divides the community and confirms (and possibly encourages) the skill gap between bboys and bgirls.
2. How do you prepare and is that any different then for another jam?
Eating healthy and training hard. I’m not doing anything too different from before but I am trying to enter a few more battles to practice battling.
3. What advise would you give bgirls who wanna learn power like you?
Everyone’s bodies are different and there are many different techniques to do powermoves so you have to find what works for your body. Advice that works for one person might not work for you. There’s no magic pill and it takes a lot of hard work but if you listen, take care of your body, and work hard, you’ll get it! (Hahahaha I feel so cheesy saying this)
